So, I have completely neglected this blog for months, but I’m going to try to start blogging again.

Youth has been fantastic lately. We’ve had good attendance for the most part, although it’s been a bit down due to weather and various events in the last couple of weeks. This past Tuesday, we had two new kids, so we did our infamous magic trick. hahahaha. If you want to know what that is, you’ll just have to come to youth group.

We’ve been doing a series inspired by the John Eldredge book “Waking the Dead.” It’s a very powerful book, with a very powerful message. Thankfully he provides plenty of scripture references for me to see where he’s coming from and use to find what God wants me to convey to the kids.

I hope everyone is blessed! I hope to get release forms signed soon so that I can post pictures of our meetings here!

God bless!

Sunrise October 22, 2009

On my way to work today, I had the pleasure of watching the beginnings of the sunrise. The sky was mostly dark with a bit of a dull purplish color in the east, and as I drove, it slowly brightened. By the time I got to work, the sunrise itself was a much brighter mix of colors and I found myself wishing that I had left 20 minutes later (I came to work early today) so that I could have seen the full glory of the sunrise.

Doesn’t that speak to what we as humans and Christians are seeking? We see glimpses of God’s glory here and there, but more than anything, we long to see the full glory. We should never be satisfied with glimpses. If we keep seeking after God, keep running the race, keep looking for His full glory, we will be blessed, both here and in the life to come when we finally will see all His glory.

Blessings!

Good morning! October 21, 2009

Good morning, all! This is the first post to this blog. I’ll be using the blog to update everybody on what is happening with the youth group, as well as to post the occasional devotional entry.

I was reading Psalm 5 this morning in the Message translation. Let me share that with you.

1-3 Listen, God! Please, pay attention! Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King-God, I need your help.
   Every morning
      you’ll hear me at it again.
   Every morning
      I lay out the pieces of my life
      on your altar
      and watch for fire to descend.

 4-6 You don’t socialize with Wicked,
      or invite Evil over as your houseguest.
   Hot-Air-Boaster collapses in front of you;
      you shake your head over Mischief-Maker.
   God destroys Lie-Speaker;
      Blood-Thirsty and Truth-Bender disgust you.

 7-8 And here I am, your invited guest—
      it’s incredible!
   I enter your house; here I am,
      prostrate in your inner sanctum,
   Waiting for directions
      to get me safely through enemy lines.

 9-10 Every word they speak is a land mine;
      their lungs breathe out poison gas.
   Their throats are gaping graves,
      their tongues slick as mudslides.
   Pile on the guilt, God!
      Let their so-called wisdom wreck them.
   Kick them out! They’ve had their chance.

 11-12 But you’ll welcome us with open arms
      when we run for cover to you.
   Let the party last all night!
      Stand guard over our celebration.
   You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers,
      for decking us out in delight.

May God be with you today!
